HGV Motor Technology Traineeship is a joint initiative between Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board and the Mid-West Regional Skills Forum. This pilot initiative offers a pathway into a career in the haulage industry. On this 9-month programme, you will experience learning in an education and training setting and in the workplace, gaining valuable experience in real work and industry environments, making you more skilled, more employable and enhancing your employment opportunities. This exciting new initiative has been developed in partnership with the haulage industry in the Mid-West.

HGV Motor Technology Traineeship
QQI Level 5 Major Award
This 9-month traineeship will provide you with job-specific skills including diagnostic, maintenance and installation procedures on electronic and mechanical components used in the HGV and motor technology industry. On-the-job training will be provided by our industry partners while off-the-job education and training will take place at our College of Further Education and Training, Hospital Campus, County Limerick.
Applicants must have a QQI Major Level 4 Award/Leaving Cert applied equivalent or higher, however, applicants who can provide documented industry experience may also be considered.
Progression / Employment Opportunities
On successful completion, you will receive a QQI Level 5 Major Award in Motor Technology. You will be equipped with skills to gain employment in a number of roles in the local haulage industry. This programme is also an ideal pathway to a QQI Level 6 Apprenticeship in Motor Mechanics or a Level 6 programme with TUS.
